Louella Gipson Sernicola
June 26, 1922 - August 28, 2012
The Sernicola family extends a grateful heart to our friends and customers following the loss of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Louella Sernicola, on August 28th.
"Nana" was a vital participant in the early days of our restaurant operation with her recipes and cooking experience. Some of our customers were life-long friends and neighbors of hers. Nana would stop by to visit and eat with us about once per month and every time she came in the restaurant our customers were thrilled to see the family matriarch. Nana's presence brought four generations of the Sernicola family together in one place.
The last year of Nana's life was difficult as her health was in decline and she was sometimes confused by her surroundings. However, she still visited the restaurant and happily greeted our customers up until the month before she passed away.
We cannot count the number of cards, flowers, phone calls, and personal visits we have had from our customers following Nana's death. We even had customers at the funeral who had never met Nana before, but felt a personal connection to her through the restaurant. Our family was truly blessed by everybody's love and support!
"You have turned by wailing into dancing; you have put off my sack-cloth and clothed me with joy. Therefore my hearts sings to you without ceasing; O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever." (Psalm 30: 12-13)
